The prostate is an important part of the male reproductive system and is a gland that is usually the size of a chestnut and weighs about 18-20 grams. The prostate produces part of the seminal fluid, which contains nutritive and protective factors essential for the transportation and protection of sperm. It also surrounds the beginning of the urinary canal, allowing urine to pass out of the bladder and out of the urethra.
