A cystocele is a prolapse of a tissue or organ in the pelvic cavity as a result of weakened support of the pelvic organs. Factors such as childbirth, heavy lifting, obesity or aging can weaken the support of the pelvic organs and contribute to the development of a cystocele. This condition is characterized by the bladder hanging down from the pelvic floor and can form a bulge below the normal position of the bladder.
